Biography
A composer, conductor, singer, and pianist/organist, Paul John Robinson is passionate about musical storytelling, especially in the context of the sacred.
Serving as Director of Music and Worship Arts at Saint Paul United Methodist Church in Lincoln, NE, Paul directs the vocal and handbell choirs and arranges vocal and instrumental music for worship. In addition, he is the Music Director of the Lincoln Choral Artists – an auditioned community chorus. A published composer of both congregational song and choral music, Paul’s arrangements have been heard at state and regional conferences. Paul has prepared choirs for performances with Abendmusik Chorus and Orchestra, Crossroads Music Festival, Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra, and a world-premiere with composer Mark Hayes at Carnegie Hall.
Prior to his time in Lincoln, Paul resided in Rapid City, SD, where he served First Presbyterian Church and performed frequently with the Dakota Choral Union, Black Hills Symphony Orchestra, and the Black Hills Community Theatre. Highlights include a solo concert of songs and arias with the Black Hills Symphony Orchestra (2017) and the title roles in Black Hills Community Theatre’s productions of Man of La Mancha (2017) and Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka (2018).
Paul is a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music and is finishing graduate work in choral conducting at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. Paul is married to Martha, a cellist and Suzuki teacher, and together they have two daughters – Emsley and Astoria.
